Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me. Mt. 25:34-36
As a Christian people we enter into a relationship with Christ through the waters of Baptism. As we are immersed into the dying and rising of Christ we are called to a life of discipleship, a life of service.
Here at Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, each of our students are encouraged to answer the baptismal call to serve the Lord and His people.
One way we answer this call is through the Christian Service Program. We believe that our students possess the integrity and desire to go into the community and share their time and God given talents. Within this program we will foster clear values that guide toward a stronger understanding of the Gospel virtues of charity and justice. It will contribute to faith development, personal leadership and allow students to have active involvement in their choices of service.
With the example of Jesus Christ, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the maternal love of Our Blessed Mother Mary, it is our hope to help shape spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally balanced young men and women to “serve with gladness” and to make a difference in the community.
The Christian Service program is founded on the message: “love one another as I have loved you.” Essential to the Gospel message and to the teachings of the Catholic Church are the beliefs in the dignity and worth of each person and the calling of Christians to respond to those in need.
Sacred Heart of Jesus High School echoes the need for our students to learn, serve, and carry their ministry beyond the school’s walls.
